Beware of Bogus Botox
An entire boat load of employees at an Albany, New York cosmetic practice has pleaded guilty to felony charges of misleading clients by administering a non FDA approved substitute for Botox and not telling patients of the switch.
The frightening part is that it wasn't just a single unscrupulous individual, but rather it was a whole team including 5 physicians, a practice administrator and a supervising nurse who were all either complicit or actively involved in the cosmetic injectable switcheroo.
Patients were led to believe they were receiving Botox treatment through brochures, consent forms, promotional material and of course the invoice which all indicated that they were to have received Botox. Yet despite this, they were given Botulinum Toxin Type A, a product which is no approved for cosmetic use by the FDA. The scandal lasted an entire year and 150 patients were duped by shelling out over $100,000.

Unbelievable
The most frightening part of this is that there really was no way the consumers could have known. They were maliciously and actively misled. Even if they asked them directly, they would have just lied. Even a doctor probably can't tell the difference between real botox and a cheap knockoff version when it's in a syringe. Hopefully, there aren't any harmful health effects.
